{"id":261145,"date":"2023-07-14T19:03:01","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T19:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.xtranet.co.ke\/newbackup2\/?page_id=261145"},"modified":"2023-07-14T19:08:31","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T19:08:31","slug":"capacity-building-update-february-2023","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dev.xtranet.co.ke\/newbackup2\/capacity-building-update-february-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Capacity Building Update February 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][tm_image image=&#8221;261132&#8243;][tm_spacer size=&#8221;lg:14&#8243;][vc_column_text]In furtherance of its Capacity building mandate, NCA\u00a0through its Training and Capacity<br \/>\nBuilding department, in the month of February, conducted 6 trainings under the<br \/>\nAuthority\u2019s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program that saw\u00a0418<br \/>\nContractors and 119 Site Supervisors edified.<\/p>\n<p>Of these, two Regional Contractor CPD seminars targeted contractors from 7 counties<br \/>\nunder Central Nyanza &amp;\u00a0Upper Eastern\u00a0regions, while 2 high impact seminars<br \/>\nspecifically targeted MSME contractors from 5 counties under Kajiado and Western<br \/>\nRegions while a further 2 online webinars covered Electrical and Building Contractors<br \/>\nfrom across the entire country.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in the programs were coached on wide ranging topics that included, but<br \/>\nweren\u2019t limited to: the Bidding Process in Construction, Project Planning &amp;<br \/>\nManagement, Contract Administration, Structural Integrity of Buildings, Demolition<br \/>\nWorks, Sustainable Water Management, An Engendered Approach to Occupational<br \/>\nHealth and Safety, Entrepreneurship for MSMEs In Construction and Alternative Dispute<br \/>\nResolution in Construction.<\/p>\n<p>Within the same period, as part of NCA\u2019s Continuous Technical Development (CTD)<br \/>\nprogram,\u00a01,786 construction workers drawn from\u00a091 construction sites across\u00a0 11<br \/>\nregions were trained\u00a0under the Construction Workers Onsite Training program.<\/p>\n<p>The CTD program also saw\u00a0928 students undertaking various construction related<br \/>\ncourses\u00a0in 7 Vocational and Technical Colleges as well as Youth Polytechnics in<br \/>\nCentral Nyanza and Coast regions taken through the Exit and Mentorship Talks<br \/>\nprogram.<\/p>\n<p>The Construction Workers Onsite Training program has seen marked improvement\u00a0on<br \/>\nSafe Site practices particularly in the use of PPEs and Safety Signs. The program also<br \/>\nsensitizes Contractors and Site Supervisors on safety compliance measures and<br \/>\nadoption of continuous trainings through toolbox talks, to ensure consistency in applying<br \/>\nSite Safety best practices.<\/p>\n<p>The next two High Impact one-day Seminars will take place on\u00a08th March 2023 in<br \/>\nMombasa\u00a0(MSMEs) and\u00a015th March 2023 in Kisumu\u00a0(Women, Youth, PWDs<br \/>\nDirectors).
